Jon:

Would you run cover plates if you were picking up grass from windrows or only with a stripper header? Do you have any moisture issues due to no dry time in windrows? If you have to wait longer due to moisture, do you suffer more shatter loss by waiting to strip rather than cutting earlier and laying in windrows to dry?

Thanks, Mike

I am telling you more than I know, because the only "grass" I have run through a stripper head or AF rotor combine is hard red spring wheat. We needed the 3 cover plates to thresh wheat in winrows and even more so with the stripper because so much less straw is avalible in the mix to help thresh and transport the seeds through the combine.
