Alton, Ia | Way, way, way back, we had a corn crib right next to the very poor concrete floor we let the sows out on to eat and stretch. Naturally, corn crib meant rats, and the busted up concrete gave plenty of burrowing places, but woe be it to the unlucky rat that ventured out while the sows were left loose.
And I agree, unless it's really bad, leave it. If it's broken up enough the kids can sell the bacon as free range or something, for twice the price.
