Depends. I normally feed a bale of haylage, some corn silage, and a grain mix. 300 cu ft mixer does fine. I have mixed two baleage bales in it, one alfalfa, one Sorghum Sudan, 4x5, around 2000 lb, it is full, and rather slow. It depends on if it's essential for you to get it all in one batch. If you are doing dry hay, then bigger is definately better. If you are doing wet hay and dry ingredients, you can get by with a lot smaller mixer.
