Denison, Iowa | The board does control all and the members aren't always kept informed until after the fact on some decisions. Atlantic property is still a sore subject amongst the membership. The plant profits have been a roller coaster as well as the dividend payouts. When the plant makes good profits, only a very small portion of that is paid back as dividend, but the tax liability is for all of it. I think everyone that invested saw a great opportunitiy to promote local growth in this industry and an excellent corn marketing tool, which has happened, but now many members would like to take their profitt and move on to other investments. There are a lot of non-producer members in this local area involved in this plant and the current return on investment has not been very high. Stock sales have been frozen since last March as the board has been working on a sale potentially since then. I also agree with the comment about the board, as there has been very little turnover on this board since its inception. The plant is supposed to continue on in operation and all after Andersons buy, supposedly nothing will change except the name on the sign. We shall see!! | |
