Subject: Re: anybody else have weak calves?

North Central Kansas
I had one that finally figured it out this morning. Cow had a dairy size udder but teats that he should have been able to handle pretty easy. I have been milking the cow and tubing him because of time issues. Last night I decided it was time for him to do the work. It took a little convincing but he was up and sucking this morning from Mama. He was locked in the heifer pen with his mother and two heifers that I have left to calve. He was robbing off of one of the heifers that hadn't calved yet. He would go suck on the heifer but couldn't figure it out that he needed to stick his head lower to get to his motther's teats. After I saw him robbing I penned him and the cow up in the shed. He only had one choice then. I have had 4-5 that were kind of like that. Slow and dumb. So far I have saved them all and I am still at 100%. Less than 10 to go. This year is alot better calving weather.
