The drought last year hurt bad but with a near record amount of rain so far this year it's getting pretty green. I'm partial to following 290 even though it's 4 lanes from the Houston area towards the Austin area. Or take I-10 out my way towards Sealy and follow 71 through Columbus towards Austin. You get a little of the feel for the hill country. Some of the best drives are just finding the farm to market roads and following them. Hwy. 159 from Hempstead to Brenham is pretty nice too. | |
