If you got cropland for silage, then you got land for earcorn. The equipment requirement would be a grind-mixer for preparing the feed. For harvesting a one-row or two-row cornpicker, couple of more wagons to go along with the wagon you already have, plus a elevator to unload the earcorn in storage shed. Plus side is you can use the tractors you already have unless they are to big. Best thing about earcorn is the horsepower requirement for your tractors. I use a 67 hp MF 275 tractor to power a New Holland 355 grinder-mixer, and use the same tractor to pull a 1-row New Ideal corn picker. You don't have the horsepower requirement need with corn silage. Plus cornear makes a good feed, put the right conditon on calves in my opinion.
