Subject: Re: converting truck from gasser to diesel

Boone, Iowa
I switched a Kodiak over for a neighbor. Went from a 454 gas motor to a small Cat motor. Found a Kodiak at the salvage yard and had the frame cut behind the cab. I received the frame, motor, transmission, brake lines, etc. I removed the radiator, motor, motor mounts, tranny mounts and anything else I needed. I took the tranny back, since the owner wanted to keep what was in the truck. I had to swap the center section in the drive axle to a numerically lower gear, swap to some diesel tanks and shorted the driveshaft. The shifter was ordered thru a local dealership, so the swap would look stock. The neighbor was very happy with the swap. It was not cheap, but he knew the condition of the truck and was probably cheaper than trading.
