Driftless SW Wisconsin | I think it is helpful to remember the old saying that the best cure for high prices is high prices.
Current record prices for feeders are likely pulling calves out of the woodwork.
Longer term the dollar is level to down making US products still look like a bargain overseas. Looking at the meat counter at Walmart the other day I saw some hamburger at $4.78/lb. Fairly good looking beef. The jobs numbers are looking better. And while $4.78 is not cheap, I don't think that will discourage folks with a job from making meat loaf or grilling burgers. The steaks are likely to go overseas.
There may be some zigs and zags but the fundamentals are still positive for quality US cattle, in my opinion.
