Subject: R K Products gauge wheel arm kits, opions??

Bartlett TX
I went ahead and ordered a set of these for my 1770nt, and it took me the better part of 3 hours and a phone call to the Mfg to get one gauge wheel installed. I think the others will go alot faster once I get the hang of it. Are the results worth all the fine tune adjusting it takes to install them? I nearly fell over when I opened the box and saw over 800 washers in the kit to do 24 rows! How much of a PITA is it when the rows plug with mud and you have to take the gauge wheel off in the field to do a scrape and clean? It sounds like you would need to keep a torque wrench with you in the tractor to get everything back together properly. I do have to say its pretty impressive how well it keeps the gauge wheel up against the disk, far better than the stock setup. The directions recommended removing the scrapers completely, but I have my doubts that that would work in my wet Houston black clay....
