Subject: RE: road speed of deere b unstyled and styled?

I am going from memory so don't hold me to these exact speeds. An unstyled B with a three speed will probably go 10 miles per hour, if it has the factory overdrive to make it a six speed it will probably push 20 MPH. A styled B before 1947 will be about the same. A styled B after 1947 probably won't go over 14 MPH. Looking at the side rails of the tractor will tell you which you have, also the B's after 1947 had a single shift lever for all six speeds.

A Farmall H will travel in the 18 MPH range and a Super H will be the same. Someone with the books in front of them or more experience than I with these tractors may correct me but I think I am close. If these tractors had an aftermarket overdrive they were then a nine speed. The overdrive did not affect regular 5th gear.

Hope this helps. John EIA
