SW Iowa | You never said if you were going to purchase a combine, or hire it harvested a few years, or work with a neighbor.....I do believe I would look long and hard at owning your own sprayer. With your acres and new farmer, you may not get timely spraying passes from the local COOPs. That is getting SUPER important in our neck of the woods with resistant weeds, especially if you are going to no-till. I would concentrate on a good planter, good tractor, a sprayer.
Notill- or till is only a decision you can make. My question to that is, how are you going to apply fertilizer? Just spread it on the top of the ground, no tillage, then plant? IMHO thats not a program good for growing good corn and beans. I have never seen a corn or bean plant put roots on top of the ground to collect P and K.
