Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning. | When you need to get an antenna in the air and climbing makes you nervous, this might be for you. I built this tower from my own design in 1975. It's 42 feet to the top of the trussed tower and about 20 feet more to the tip of the omni antenna. It has withstood several 100 MPH+ wind events and even stood through a micro-burst that downed a 115 KV 2 pole highline support. Perhaps more important is the fact that it has never been hit by lightning, which seems kinda strange since it sits on ground that is higher than most in a two mile radius. So, since I am going to remove some of the no longer used antennas, remove the rotor, and put up an aerial for UHF, I decided to lay it down instead of climbing. A few pics:
