DE | I had a lincoln 170 that went in the dumpster because a sledge hammer fell on it. The motor that feeds the wire would just stop especially if you had it set for higher wire speed. I changed liner and tip and helped for a short while but then started acting up again. This was with stainless wire so there wasn't any rust on wire. You could hold the trigger and it would feed fine without welding, soon as you struck an arc, it would stop or slow down again. I spent 20 minutes trying to weld four inches on new clean metal had cable completely straight and my last nerve just snapped. Never was overly impressed with it. You never see a lincoln in the back of welder service trucks, seems most are miller. I'm leaning towards a miller 180 but hear good things about the esabs | |
