There is no substitute for your nose and hands to arms depth. Every week.
I have been around commercial bins where the manager kept wonderful records of the heat cable readouts. Everything is fine. Except the kid with the weed whacker hit the wire going to the bin last summer.
And it is good cardio vascular exercise.
