| The replies concerning the need to keep the ports of the remote couplers clean are dead on. We recommend keeping a spray can of some type of cleaner (B12 works fine) if you don't have access to an air hose. Remove the rubber dust cover, and you can even remove the snap ring and external aluminum collar and spring for good access; get "all" of the dirt out before you try to insert the male hose tip.
But if the coupler ports are clean, your tractor has worn-out internal cartridges. If a hose tip fully engages into a clean remote coupler and then blows out when you hit the lever, that cartridge is shot. Even worse is that when the cartridges wear out, it is extremely difficult to remove the hose tip. There is no solution except to replace the internal cartridges. That is an easy job on the tractors with aluminum coupler retaining clamps. The ones with cast iron coupler housings are best left to a mechanic unless you are good with internal teflon seal rings. | |
