Seemed unusual but I suppose it's the same thing as rust on the inside of the can. I suppose anything can happen after ten years; that's why one of my college chemistry professors called water the universal solvent. Give it enough time and it can wear anything down.

And yes, I did end up buying a new cylinder. This cylinder can't be converted to double-action.
