Are the lights actually drawing 15 amps? Only suppose to load light circuits to 80%. So if your lights draw between 12-16 amps you need a 20 amp breaker and 10 gauge for voltage drop. If only need a 15 amp breaker 12 gauge should work fine. Rule of thumb i was always taught is for the first 100 feet use rated wire, after that up the gauge of the wire for every 100 feet. Larger motors are a little different, i size them one bigger right from the start.
