Central Missouri | Had the same issue on a 2010 ram 1500. Truck came with passenger car tires "p275/60r20" they were junk. Upgraded to a "lt275/65r20" 10 ply. The ride, power and fuel economy didn't change much if at all.
On the other hand, put heavy tires on a jeep liberty, passenger car to 8ply light truck. It hurt all three, not that it was ever a rocket ship. Now it is on some load range c 6ply tires.
