Your hydraulic mount will not have near the hp/torque as your pto PHD. Hydrualic flow and psi will matter. On my Toolcat, the hydraulic pto uses 27 gpm at 3000 psi and is only rated at 25 hp at 540 rpm. You will probably only need a motor that can get you 200-250 rpm which will help you with the torque. Tractor psi will typically be near 2500. You will want a motor that can handle the 2500-3000 psi loads. The flow rate will vary widely depending on tractor.
I run big 24-36 bits on my Toolcat hydraulic PHD. If your using 9" or 12" augers, you should get along OK. However, in wet ground or extremely hard ground, I can have some issues with my 9 and 12" agers.
