Subject: Re: Dish vs Direct TV

High Springs, Florida
I've had DirecTV for many years up in Ohio and now in Florida. They do not have local channels available in our zip code. Well, I should say they are available, but won't give them to us, due to licensing restrictions. Anyhow I upgraded to a newer receiver that has an ATSC or digital/HDTV off air tuner built in. It works really well and requires an standard outdoor TV antenna mounted outside the house, hooked into the sat box. Mine is up 15'. It is a real boon during the heavy thunderstorms we get down here, when the sat signal disappears. It searches for digital/HD off air signals after you input your zip code, then puts them in the channel guide! Works slick! Most if not all TV stations are broadcasting in analog and digital all the time now!
