Faunsdale, AL | Get in it and take off fast, see how quickly it speeds up after you gun the engine. If you can operate (I would always do this before purchasing one!) dig some with it and see if it'll spin the wheels etc
One thing to notice is the older CAT loaders (922,944 etc) with ridgid frames had torque converters that really limited the amount of pushing you could do with one. I have heard of one being changed out to allow more hp to the wheels. I think they wanted to make sure the chasis lasted a long time. Still had trouble with the main frames on the first series of both those smaller loaders. We have done some plating on VERY OLD 944 we have. It was easier than swapping all the engine and trans components into a good frame we also own.
