| NWS has a bunch of web pages one for each reporting station. Ames (KAMW) is at:
http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/KAMW.html
You can look up station calls by finding this web page on line (I found it with a descriptive google)
USreportingstationsbystate.html
and substitute the three (with K prefix) or four letter call for the station you want.
Omaha is KOMA, Sioux City is KSUX, Waterloo is KALO, Webster City is KEBS, Boone is KBNW, Marshaltown is KMIW, Des Moines is KDSM, Iowa Falls is KIFA., Fort Dodge is KFOD.
Right now (9 pm observations, though they list eastern time by default) Webster City is reporting gusts to 38 while Iowa Falls is reporting 9 mph.
Or at www.weather.net you can enter city names or zip codes and get individual weather reports all over the country, no need to learn the station calls, but it loads a little slower than the NWS pages. The observed data is derived from the NWS data, by programs that I created. My programs also created the animated radar and weather maps.
