One way to determine value on something like that is to go to Replacements Ltd (http://www.replacements.com/index.htm) and check that out.  They've been in business a long time, and have extensive lists of patterns and pieces.  Their main business is to replace missing or broken pieces out of sets for customers, but their price lists are valuable for searching just the type of info you're looking for.  Good luck!!  And if you can, let us know how you get along with this project.  It's always neat to have something like that from family that's been used and loved.
