Subject: Despite the Weather-some Numbers that Performed

North Central Ohio, across the Corn belt !

These are sold across the scales Yields that were providing Solid Performances and ( Excellent Plant health. )  100% standing at harvest despite the adverse conditions this 2011 season.

Planting date  June 1 st and second.

All fields mentioned are within a few miles of one another.

No P applied.  No Manure applied. No Row or in furrow. No insecticide applied at any time. No fungicide applied. A dry broadcast was worked in ahead of the Planter.

1 ton of High Calcium lime was applied the fall of 2010 after S.B. harvest.

No fall broadcast was applied.

AMS and Urea plus 100 lbs of 0-0-60 was the blend ingredients applied this spring.

No side dress was applied.

100 Lbs of a fly on dry formula was applied pre tassel. All acres

A6458VT3      app. 350 acres  ( 215.2 bu. )  ac. sold across the scales

209-77Vt3       app. 300 acres  ( 198.5 bu. )  ac  "     "      "      "     "     "

N68B3000GT  app. 290 acres  ( 205.4 bu. )  ac  "                            "

35F44              app. 290 acres  ( 205.9 bu. )  ac  "             "               "

All Production input costs were comparable  except for the  Top Yield-er  the Agrigold A6458.     So for a 10 Bu  yield advantage plus $15. seed cost savings this was the winner for corn planted in June when comparing these fields, Numbers

The seed cost per acre on the A.G. was 15.00. less than the average of the other 3 numbers this season.   so the highest $$$$ Seed is certainly NOT always the biggest $$$ maker for the Farmer.

As stated above. All fields were planted in June ( except the NK N68B )

planted may 12th. Producing comparable yields.

All seed was ordered and paid by October 5th 2010 so full discounts were taken.

These certainly do not represent the Best yielding fields this season But For comparing planting date Purposes and Seed comparisons. ROI and Field Plant health evaluation. and close proximity the quality was very comparable.

the moisture at harvest on the 209-77VT3 was 27.8

the average on the balance of fields was 22.6

A total of approx 200 units of N. was Programed. applied

All fields followed S.B. s

Average soil analysis readings

Ca. base sat.% 62 to 68%

Mg. base sat.% 8 to 15

P= 20 ppm average

K=4% average

these are average app. readings on the sum of all the above acres

CEC. ranges from 8 to 16 or so.

OM. ranges from 3 to 5 plus

A neighboring co-op did some extensive Fungicide-insecticide Plot work on an adjoining field. applied at V5 and pre tassel.  the field averaged 197.9 Bu. and

No advantage was measured.  Except. 1. strip applied V-5 showed a nice response. but was not repeated. in the field, plot work.

this is a brief review of Observations from this growing season.

the 2011 season cool, Very Wet, then was VERY HOT and Dry at times

the 2010 season was cool, Very wet and then VERY Dry

The corn yields from 2010 and 2011 are within 5 Bu. sold across the scales of each other.
