Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums. | Some of the choices mentioned make me laugh, because we don't like them at all. But I guess it's like any crop, what works in one place is a loser somewhere else. I don't like the Se varieties. Got to be at least sh2 or the new synergistic varieties. We still prefer the xtra tender varieties from IFS becaue they yield high. Rogers has some good ones too. We did some 8 acre blocks trials for two companies offering RR sweet corn. They were OK. I didn't like the varieities they picked to put the genes into. I think RR sweet corn is a waste. But I do like the stacked bt trait. My selections are probably different. We need taste that will last after shipping, in addition to yield and good tip cover. All my neighbors love 278. They swear it's the best. Then occasionally some random moron asks for silver queen. haha. we usually give them an up to date version of good white and they're happy. You guys are making me hungry. We should have around 900 acres for 2012. |
