Pittsburg, Kansas

ditto.

That may sound like a doomsday scenario,........... but the way I look at it is if I don't sell 2012 now and prices go down, I may be unhappy with not getting as much money for my crop as I had hoped. Ok, so I'm unhappy. But if some or all of what Hayinhere talks about comes to pass, I will be very happy I still have the grain in the bin. I agree with his concerns. The risks are real in my opinion, and I currently see no moves by congress or the administration to correct the problems. If I see positive moves in the right direction, I will modify my position. But till then, no.

Grain in the bin looks like pretty good risk management right now to me. I wish I had raised enough to have some 2011 to hold. I'm not going to sell 2012 till I see we have some made or close to it.  It might not be the most profitable avenue, but risk management isn't about making the highest profit.

John
