Zebulon, North Carolina | Yes, its for nematode pressure in soybeans. We have sandy to sandy loam soils that can get hot spots over time and the temik really keeps nematode pressure down. We test for nematodes every year and so far its kept numbers down. I run 5 lbs an acre under beans, NC State says 3 is enough but in my experience from my tests on the farm show more benefit from 5 lbs an acre. I consistently yield about 10 bushels more with temik at planting and then with fungicide and insecticide at R3. My soybean yield is usually at least 15 bu higher than county average every year since I started this program along with high fertility. I also tried the seed treatments as a possible substitute in some trials but temik always wins at harvest. Temik also keeps the deer from eating soybeans until around R2-R3 at the 5 lb rate, they wont touch temik treated soybeans (and we have a ton of deer).
