| Did a search and it brought up a 4 year old thread, but nobody had any actual research data, just anecdotal stories. I'm predominately N-S, but this year the wind hammered those, and was thinking about being more balanced. I can't predict the wind, but the high wind storm usually come in with a west bias, but folks think that N-S rows are better for sunlight and weed control. I found a study from the USDA, but it was only two years with limited data, so that's not a lot of years to draw a good conclusion from. Not to mention its 25 years old, and the hybrids and yield expectations have changed a lot since then.

Some people only want to plant E-W, and others say N-S, I guess maybe it makes little difference, and its dependent on the weather that specific year. | |
