North Central Ohio, across the Corn belt !

quote from the above link

quote -

(  For whatever reason these are things you should know )

1) Zinc chelates and ammoniated zincs are more efficient than broadcast zing sulfate. Because of particle size, it might take 10-30 lb/acre of zinc sulfate to give a similar yield increase as 1 quart of 10% chelate or 1 pint to 1 quart of ammoniated zinc.

2) Chelates and ammoniated zinc at those rates will not increase soil test levels and need to be used each year that a zinc sensitive crop is seeded.

3) Ammoniated zinc contains free ammonia. For that reason, limit application with the corn seed to maximum 1 quart/acre and back this down to 1 pint/acre in dry, sandy soil.

4) Chelates at 1-2 quarter/acre are safer to the seed compared with ammoniated zincs, but don't go overboard with the rates. They can injure germination.

5) Germinations risks are hugely reduced with seed and fertilizer band separation. Separation of seed and fertilizer is always the first choice, if this is possible. ) End quote

S.L. This is why, when one will be farming the ground for some time in the future.

1 or 2 applications of dry Zinc sulfate Broadcast can bring the soil levels to an adequate residual reserve.

(  so that no additional row Applied Zinc is required. )

But maybe some will consider row applied for maintenance as an option also ?

after the soils are Built to their specific correct levels

The per unit coast of zinc is very cost effective as a dry form.

So there are viable Options to consider.
