Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | Here, anytime an animal is sold, transported across state lines, or slaughtered, need to have a brand inspection done. For sure anytime they are sold at an auction (at our two local sales, even the one in Oregon, the CA brand inspector is there) or killed by butcher, the paper needs to be there. Those of us with cattle or land in both states can usually slide by with a transportation tag rather than getting a brand inspection done just to move them, but the system works pretty good and isn't a big hassle. It is no big deal to have cattle without your brand, just need to prove how you ended up with it. | |
