Hay rings cost alot anymore with the price of steel gone up. We have always unrolled, makes ground more fertile, by spreading manure to areas where you feed. Just unroll what you think they will clean up and take the rest back to the shed. Hay rings make a mess with manure all at one spot. Calves get scours from nasty udders, and newborns sometimes get trampled.
