According to North Central States, you need .38 lbs P205 per bushel of yield and .27 lbs K2O per bushel of yield and .9 lbs N per bushel of yield. I usually use 1.2 lbs of N per bushel of yield for corn on corn and .8 or .9 for corn on soybeans. I believe a good soil test should be taken. Then use these crop removal rates to provide a minimum foundation of what should be applied. If you pH is low, then lime accordingly or your nutrients will not be totally available for the plants to use. When I have low to medium low testing soils I like to have banded applications of nutrients.
