How long do you keep it in there? According to a storability chart that was given to me by our old feedman. 15.5% corn at 80 degrees will keep 60 days, 60 degrees 200 days, 40 degrees 1,000 days. 20% corn at 80 only 9 days, 60 for 28 days, 40 for 142 days; 24% corn at 80 keeps 4 days, at 60 for 11 days, at 40 for 56 days. Using a bag you cannot aerate the temp down, so that is why the temp going in is so important if not wanting it to ferment. A note of explanation on the page says: Do not use the maximum storage time on this chart on your farm if expecting to sell to another user. For example: 26% corn held at 60 F for 4 days used 1/2 of its 8 day expected life. If then dried to 15.5% moisture and held at 50 F, the corn has only 225 days remaining (1/2 of the normal 450 days if it would have been dried immediately). I would surely combine and bag when it was below 50 F if going to keep it over 2 months and above 20 % and not wanting it to ferment.
