Hale Center, Texas | I noticed the same thing but in West Texas we use mostly "cotton strippers" which leave hardly anything. There's a poster here from West Texas that hired some picked 2 or 3 years ago and he ran his stripper over what had been picked and got close to 150 pounds per acre. The grades are usually better overall with a picker and in the example above, the extra 150 pounds was not equal to the quality of what the picker harvested. There is no way there is 150 pounds per acre left behind in these pictures as it looks like that is a really good job for a picker. It's mostly burrs and junk cotton. | |
