Grabill, Indiana | Based on the vomitoxin levels I am seeing in DDGS here in the Eastern Cornbelt I think we have our carryover years mixed up! There is quite a bit of 2009 corn being sent to Ethanol plants right now, you can tell by the Vomitoxin levels that have 'magically' jumped from 0 to 4 to 5 ppm.
In my backyard we are almost out of corn, my feed mill customers are scrambling to find corn to meet their customer's feed needs and the ethanol plant are buying corn with 30% moisture with NO moisture dockage.
There is no doubt we hurt demand, I have customers with 1/3 to 1/2 as much corn in their swine rations today compared to the same rations last spring, but did we change enough in livestock and exports to give us another 300 million bushels? | |
