We did a part of that a few years ago. Stayed at Edisto Island, S.C., then made "day trips" to Savannah, and Charleston. If you're in Charleston, I'd take the ferry boat to Fort Sumter, and listen to the park ranger explaining about the origins of the Civil War, and the reason that the first incidents occurred there at Fort Sumter............................there are dozens of old antebellum houses or plantation houses/grounds for touring in both cities....one or two of those is enough for me, but my wife really enjoys them, and drags me along Gives one a better perspective on early coastal life in those areas. Older parts of Savannah are interesting, as the architect of the city laid it out with a small "square" every few blocks.

Swing through Hilton Head Island, to see how the "other half" lives. Have lunch by the harbor, by the 18th hole of the golf course by the light house. It will be familiar to you if you watch golf on TV.

Have a good trip. showboat
