Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums.
You have to have solid set, like sandfarmer said. Its common practice for strawberry growers. But they have sprinklers and pipe on the whole field at once and run continuously until the frost is over. Ice will build on the plants forming a insulating coating. Thus the plant never gets below 32 degrees as long as its coated with ice. A quick pass with the pivot doesn't work the same way and will likely end up with several spans on the ground in a nice tangled mess.
