Subject: Re: Overhead feed bins

Moved a smaller feed bin this way for a neighbor one time.

Removed the endgate on the grain truck.

Drove to the place where the bin was and unbolted the anchor bolts. Raised the hoist on the truck all the way up and backed up to the bin. Tipped the bin using come alongs one anchored to the front of the truck the other to a beam in the barn. This controlled the rate of tip against the raised truck box. Once against the box I tied it fast to the bed and slowly left the bed down.

Brought it to new location and reversed the process. Backed up to the barn, raised the truck bed. Then used come alongs tied to a barn beam and the truck to slowly pull it back upright.

Was not that bad of a job just slow and time consuming. Bin was more bulky than heavy.

Mine was not nearly 24 ft high though.

Might need a long bed to raise high enough or maybe a friend with an excavator could pick it from the top and lay it down ?
