IIRC, Amana is the low end name in the Whirlpool assortment and KitchenAid is the high end name. We have Whirlpool and haven't had any problems. I know an appliance repairman (his own business) and he recommended the Whirlpool. However, if you are getting a gas range then you want to get a GE according to him.
