Subject: RE: alfalfa seeding question

Clark SD
I think Gerald has the best idea.
I did some math and came up with the following.
There is 30 quarts in a cubic ft. There is .8 of a bushel in a cubic ft.
The standard test weight for alfalfa is 60 lbs./bu.
Taking 60 lbs. times .8 equals 48 lbs of alfalfa per cubic ft.
Divide 48 lbs by 30 quarts you get 1.6 lbs. per quart.
Of course this answer will vary due to differences in test weight.
