Subject: Re: Need advice on hay problem

Coaldale, Alberta, Canada
We sold first cut hay for silage, they came in w/ 25 ft draper header, no conditioner and cut the whole field down. Chopper broke down, and it got to dry. We baled it dry w/ no acid, 2 weeks later. Very stressful 2 weeks, but it can be done 'here'. I wouldn't beat it around much, but fluffing (with a kirchner fluffer or the like) or tipping the swath on edge to let the air in will buy you time, but you need quite a bit more time.
