Subject: Re: Aerial application of Grazon on pastures?

Denison, Iowa
In this area aerial applicators won't spray Grazon because of the change of off target kill. Remember Grazon is 24d and Tordon, and tordon has more than a 12 month residual. Forefront is just as effective and we can get that aerial applied, after the first killing frost which is the middle of October for an average for WCIowa. By then the trees are going dormant for the winter and have lost most of their leaves. The spray can get down through the trees and control will be very effective. Last year was the first for me to have pastures aerial applied and thistle control was near 100%. I am told it takes 3-4 years of back to back fall applications to be real safe from a comeback. At $25/ acre it was one of the best management decisions I made last fall. I am signed up to have all rough pasture acres done again this year.
