Manitoba | We've always had the best success bringing in springing heifers vs cows. Seems you bring in less problems (the wrong kind of mastitus pathogen particularely) going that route. The biggest factor we have found is having them around long enough before they calve. We like to have them on site a month before they calve. Depends a lot on how long a trip they are coming in on but having them make a couple day trop on a truck and then calve a couple days later will really beat them up. | |
