eastern south central KS | In response to the question about aflatoxin: My delivery point had a tester on site; readings varied from a low of 8 to high of 46; most were in 10-30 range. I have heard it is more of a problem in SE corner of Kansas. Fat cattle can handle up to 300... if I remember right pregnant sows and dairy are most sensitive, 20 is lowest threshold that can cause a problem, and then only if corn constitutes very large portion of ration. Biggest problem is low test wts. Here there were a lot in mid to high 40's.... I only had one load under 50; but my highest wt. was only 53.8 and this was on 15% moisture corn. | |
