| I've cut a few with a sawzall. First thing I do is take a chain saw and make a kerf all around the sidewall where the cut will be - just an eighth or quarter inch deep. This won't damage your chain or bar at all. Then pour some oil in the trench you've made to lube the blade of your sawzall and it'll slice right thru it. If you use the right blade you won't even have to drill a starter hole. It's amazing how much difference the oil makes. The first one I tried, (before a friend suggested this approach) I burned up half a dozen blades AND a saw and got about half way around the tire. Also tried cutting with the chain saw, but the blade is just too wide to follow the circle in such thick rubber. | |
