Big cattle like you mention, there's more competition there.
Specially from the corps like jbs, tyson, cargill.
The 850 to 1000 wts is what they want ( 130 to 140 cwt ).
Thus the opportunity is perhaps backgrounding the lights to 850 to 1000. MO.
On feeder cattle, if your buying in the S ( low elevation country ), it's best to get em in now thru the next 30 days.
That way they have time to hair up etc.
On the high elevation cattle you can generally haul em N all winter long.
The highlands and mountains pretty much a So Dak / Neb type climate, cattle same genetics as N etc.
