I dont know your ground, but the way we just mow it in the late fall when the contract expires (oct1) sometimes bale it then no till soybeans with inoculant then spray it, For best results we try to time a rain shortly after planting so the rows stay sealed up nice. In that sod you want quick germination, otherwise you can stand from the seed trench opening up as it dries out. We have quite a few warm season grasses in our CRP so we can almost plan on having to spray it 3 times unless you hold off the first spraying a few weeks so you get those late growing grasses.
