USA | Lane,
Am no soil expert, just a dumb farmer with observations over the last 40 years.
1)Soil Livestock needs to be fed, the more soil livestock the better. When Single Crop soybeans are grown bad things happen, soil erosion goes up, soil livestock population goes down.
2)Don't have access here to poultry litter, or large amounts of manure, so need to raise crops that produce an adundance of soil building material.
3)Now if money is not an issue, best way to bring life back to poor dirt is plant it to grass for 10 years, amazing what 10 years will do to some poor hills.
4) Don't beat the soil to death with horizontial tillage and turn it to mush. No Till if workable or some form of vertical tillage, that doesn't turn ground to mush, will help the process.
5) Have not seen a problem raising a grass crop every year, either COC or corn- wheat double crop bean rotation.
