Central Missouri
one other question... how wet is the soil in the spring if you have cereal rye? especially in clay soils. Sand seems like a breeze, but i am nervous about how much mud the residue may create (between 2 years of corn residue and the growing rye) I know it is better to let it keep growing vs killing it before i plant because then it is a soppy mess that never dries out. We never plant beans before May 20th to avoid SDS, so the rye is going to be 4-5 foot tall. That being said i planted 80% of my bean acres into fescue sod that was up to waist high this year and got along great.
